🔍

Field Identification

This disease is particularly noticeable in the zone during warm and relatively dry conditions. Look for affected plants that show sudden decline.

🌿 Sudden WiltingPlants may suddenly wilt.
🍂 Leaf DiscolorationLeaves may turn yellow or brown.
📉 Stunted GrowthNormal plant growth may be reduced or stop.
⚠️ Severe InfectionUnder severe infection, the entire plant may dry out.
🌱

Identification by Examining Roots

Carefully remove a suspected plant from the soil and inspect the roots.

🟤 Black/Brown DiscolorationRoots may show black or brown discoloration.
🔎 Root Tissue DamageRoot tissue may appear damaged, weakened, or decayed.
⚫ Tiny Dark PointsIn some cases, fungal structures or tiny dark points may be visible on the outer root surface.
🛡️

Management

Important:Management should focus on reducing disease pressure, maintaining proper soil moisture, removing affected plants, and reducing carry-over risk into the next season.
1
Remove Infected Plants
Identify affected plants, remove them from the field, and dispose of them appropriately.
2
Practice Crop Rotation
Use crop rotation and avoid repeatedly planting susceptible crops in the same field.
3
Manage Soil Moisture
Maintain proper moisture management and avoid excessive moisture.
4
Reduce Plant Stress
Protect plants from excessive moisture, temperature stress, and other agronomic stresses.
5
Balanced Fertilizer Management
Maintain balanced fertilizer management and adequate crop nutrition.
6
Seed Treatment / Biocontrol
Use seed treatment or biocontrol according to local agricultural recommendations.
7
Plan the Next Season Carefully
In severely affected fields, avoid continuously growing a susceptible crop in the following season.
💡

Identification Tip

Always inspect the roots:
If plants are suddenly wilting and the roots show black/brown discoloration with damaged root tissue, consider the possibility of Root Rot.
